The Sub Rosa Coffee Table receives its name from the latin phrase, which is literally translated "under the rose." This phrase is used to denote secrecy. During the Middle Ages, roses were suspended from the ceilings in council chambers to indicate a pledge that whatever occurred in the meeting was privy only to those that were present at that time.

The table is named after the phrase, first, because it was originally designed as a project for my first apprentice. The fact that the first Sub Rosa table actually belonged to him, was a secret until the day we finished building it. Secondly, the top lifts up to reveal a compartment that is otherwise inconspicuous.

The Sub Rosa stands 40" L x 30" W x" 21" H.
