I had never laid eyes on one of these tables until I started making furniture myself. While studying mid-century office furniture I came across a photo of it and knew that I wanted to refurbish one. The beautifully crafted panel legs create a negative space that immediately draws the eyes upward to the table top. While some panel leg desks from this period sport hard edges, this design is seamlessly rounded around the edges and creates a desire to continuously walk circles around it. The rolled underframe hides a desk drawer, which is indistinguishable upon first glance. This “hidden” drawer makes the table perfect for a dual purpose dining table/WFH desk. The original color scheme was too vibrant and appealing to change, so I chose to update it. It received a fresh powder coat in a slightly bolder orange, Pantone’s Orange Popsicle, and a brand new solid Walnut desktop featuring a bright sapwood stripe.
